George R. Moore Wildlife Preservation Fund Awarded to Potomac Valley Audubon Society
The Community Foundation of Washington County MD awarded the first grant from the George R. Moore Wildlife Preservation Fund to the Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society. George Moore was a farmer and educator who passed away in 2013 in Williamsport. His estate created the George R. Moore Wildlife Preservation Fund to support organizations working to preserve wildlife in the local area.
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will use its $1,200 grant to plant a Monarch Waystation in the water drainage pond along Memorial Boulevard in Hagerstown in conjunction with the Bester Community of Hope. The outdoor lab will help educate the community on pollinators.
