2024 Responsive Grants Awarded

The Community Foundation presented its 2024 Responsive Grants to 27 local nonprofits, totaling $245,320. The grants committee selected Washington County nonprofits and programs focused on the development of a stronger community through high impact programs and initiatives that promote the health and well-being of the children in our community.

Resources for the Responsive Grants come from the growth and earnings of established Community Funds at the Foundation as well as a partnership with the Pauline Anderson Foundation. The Community Foundation presented grants to the following programs:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County: $5,000 to support the Little Leadership Academy Group Mentoring Program
  • Boys & Girls Club of Washington County: $25,000 to support Academic Success and SEL (Social Emotional Learning)
  • CASA of Western Maryland: $3,800 to support the Career Readiness Fair
  • Children In Need, Inc.: $6,000 to support Client Monthly Visits and Extended Services Programs
  • Children’s Village of Washington County, Inc.: $4,500 to support the Kids Alive Open House
  • Civil Air Patrol Hagerstown Composite Squadron: $2,500 to support Physical Training and Development
  • Discovery Station at Hagerstown, Inc.: $2,400 to support Discover Coding
  • Federal Little League: $5,000 to support the Federal Little League Three Year Tee ball Program
  • Gatekeepers Corporation: $5,200 to support the Business of Living Positive Parenting Classes
  • Girls Inc. of Washington County: $10,000 to support Girls Inc. Tutoring
  • Girls on the Run of Mid & Western Maryland: $5,000 to support Girls on the Run
  • Horizon Goodwill Industries, Inc.: $25,000 to support the Young Adult Solution Center and Housing Program
  • Hospice of Washington County, Inc.: $3,000 to support DoveTales Grief Camp
  • Interfaith Service Coalition of Hancock, Maryland, Inc.: $5,000 to support Digitally Included Kids
  • It’s A Blessing to be A Blessing: $5,000 to support the It’s a Blessing After School Feeding Program
  • Conococheague Little League: $7,500 to support Player Equipment and necessary playing field improvements
  • Maryland Symphony Orchestra: $6,000 to support the Maryland Symphony Orchestra Side by Side Youth Concerts
  • Potomac Case Management Services, Inc. dba Potomac Community Services: $10,000 to support Mental Health Care Coordination for Children and Youth (MHCC)
  • Reach of Washington County: $10,000 to support Reach’s Client Assistance
  • Robert W. Johnson Community Center: $25,000 to support the Summer Youth Enrichment Program
  • Salvation Army Red Shield Club: $10,000 to support the Salvation Army Red Shield Club Summer Camp Program
  • San Mar Family & Community Services: $7,500 to support Removing Barriers to Mental Health Access
  • Shepherd’s Spring, Inc.: $10,000 to support Local to Global (L2G)
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace: $7,130 to support Building a Better Future: Providing Beds to Kids in Need
  • The Arc of Washington County: $25,000 to support the Children’s Program Multisensory Room
  • The Hope Center at Hagerstown Rescue Mission: $4,790 to support Camp Wild
  • United Way of Washington County, MD, Inc.: $10,000 to support United Way Student Hygiene Pantries
