4-H Scholarships Presented at the Washington County 4-H Banquet

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD presented six scholarships totaling $11,500 at the Washington County 4-H banquet on Saturday, April 8th to the following recipients:

  • Washington County 4-H Dairy Scholarship of $2,000 to Sydney Davis
  • Washington County 4-H Livestock Scholarship of $1,500 to Chloe Bellerive and $500 to Caleb McDougal
  • Mildred A. Schmid 4-H Scholarship of $2,500 each to Bethany Doppel, Chloe Bellerive and Caleb McDougal

4-H Schls4-17Sydney Davis serves as president of the Washington County 4-H Dairy Club and plays varsity volleyball and softball. She also belongs to Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society. Davis will graduate in June from Smithsburg High School and plans to major in marine science or biology at a four-year university.Chloe Bellerive attends the University of Kentucky, majoring in equine science and management/pre-veterinary medicine. She has been a 4-H member since 2008 and participates in the Thoroughbred Incentive Program as an ambassador, FUSION and the Pre-Vet Club.Caleb McDougal plays varsity lacrosse, runs indoor track and is a member of 4-H and Young Life of Washington County. He is also very active in his church. After graduating from Smithsburg High School, McDougal plans to attend college to major in business/marketing.Bethany Doppel attends Clear Spring High School where she participates in 4-H, Best Buddies and the Maryland 4-H State Council. She also volunteers with the STAR Equestrian program helping with therapeutic riding, camps and special events. Doppel plans to go to a four-year university and pursue a career in equine facilitated therapeutics.
