Carpenter Family Creates Scholarship

Bob and Frank Carpenter, along with their 11 other siblings, recently created the Frank M. and Ruth N. Carpenter Family Scholarship at the Community Foundation to honor the legacy of their parents and the dedication of Clear Spring educators. In spite of a humble beginning from growing up and living during the Depression, the Carpenters, as well as many of their offspring, have gone on to become dentists, lawyers, entrepreneurs, nurses, teachers, physician assistants, airline pilots and business executives. They credit their achievements to having good, loving parents as well as receiving an excellent education from the teachers and administrators at Clear Spring.Profile 1This scholarship will present $2,000 to both a male and female student graduating from Clear Spring High School. The inaugural award will take place in the spring of 2016 to coincide with Clear Spring High School’s 100th Anniversary.Per Bob Carpenter, “We are very proud of our family and our accomplishments. We feel our success is a reflection of our parents and the high quality education we received by attending schools in Clear Spring. The best way to help someone is through education, which is why we wanted to create this scholarship fund at the Community Foundation. We hope to grow this endowment to a value of $100,000, ensuring that meaningful awards may be made in the years to come.”
