Community Foundation Announces 2023 Responsive Grant Applications

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD, Inc. announces the availability of grant applications for its 2023 Responsive Grants. This year’s grants focus on the development of a stronger community through high impact programs and initiatives within the following areas: Family stability, including elderly care, safety and security, mental healthcare for children and family units; youth development with a focus on mentoring and advocacy, including childcare; arts, recreation and educational opportunities for our community’s youth and the underserved.

Last year’s total amount in grants equaled $175,377 to twenty-eight different local nonprofits and addressed programs that contribute to emergency relief, academic success, children advocacy, historical conservation, agricultural innovation, workforce development, substance abuse, and more.

It’s important to note that the Foundation does not fund endowment growth or capital campaigns. The grants committee may consider requests for operating funds on a case by case basis provided the applicant organization makes a compelling argument for such funding. Nonprofit organizations may apply for more than one program; however, each program requires a separate grant application.

Nonprofit organizations must be based in and primarily serving Washington County, Maryland, and have a current 501(c)(3) determination from the IRS. Online applications for the 2023 responsive grants are due November 15 at midnight.
