Community Foundation Announces Available Scholarships

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD has a great many scholarships available for local students preparing for a post-secondary education. The Foundation encourages all public, private, homeschool and nontraditional students who live in Washington County, Maryland, to apply for these scholarships. Applicants can apply for more than one scholarship, but should note that each has different eligibility criteria, and they must review and meet all stated criteria for consideration. Requirements may include attendance at a certain high school in the county, plans to major in a specific course of study or participation in a designated extracurricular activity. There is no cost associated with applying for a scholarship listed on the Community Foundation’s website cfwcmd.org. All scholarship applications are due between mid-March and April 1st.“It’s more important than ever before for students to consider available funding when it comes to planning for college. The help is out there and depending on students’ willingness to seek them out and complete them on time, scholarships can truly make the difference,” says Sarah Burge, Director of Grants and Donor Relations. Many scholarship funds were created with the Community Foundation to memorialize a lost loved one, and to truly honor the donor’s intentions of giving back with a particular interest in mind. Qualifying factors include athletics, nursing, science, mechanics, 4-H, and many more.To locate these online applications, visit: www.cfwcmd.org/our-scholarshipsFor additional questions, please contact Sarah Burge at sarahb@cfwcmd.org.
