Community Foundation Donors Help Children in Need Expand Services County-wide

The Community Foundation recently completed a collaborative funding effort among their donor-advised fund holders and a private foundation to raise $15,000 for the purchase of a van for Children in Need. Donor-advised fund holders at the Community Foundation have the opportunity to remain actively involved in recommending grants to meet their charitable goals. Foundation staff make donors aware of various giving opportunities, and facilitate individual and collaborative efforts for needs meeting the criteria of the donor and the Foundation.Children in Need VanFor nearly 20 years, Children in Need has provided clothing and other essential items to thousands of local children. Through this partnership, the nonprofit organization can now extend their services to children in rural neighborhoods and schools, such as Hancock, Cascade and southern Washington County. Children in Need also received additional support from their board members and other in kind gifts that allowed them to acquire a trailer as well as offset the cost of tags and transfers. In addition to making deliveries, Children in Need will use their new van and trailer to pick up donations at offsite collection locations.
