Community Foundation of Washington County Hires New Director of Development

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD announces the addition of Cheryl Brown to its staff as the new Director of Development. Ms. Brown’s responsibilities include building a new development program that includes donor relations, fund development, major gifts and planned giving. She will work on growing the Foundation’s donor base, building relationships with professional advisors and creating special events aimed at engaging donors.Cheryl BrownMs. Brown has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. She has spent most of her career as a professional fundraiser, having recently served as the capital campaign manager for the Campaign for Coyle through the Franklin County Library System in Pennsylvania. Prior to that, Ms. Brown worked at Hospice of Washington County for five years as the director of development. While there, she designed and executed the Doey’s House Capital Campaign.Ms. Brown hosts a weekly radio talk show called “Doing Good in Franklin County” on WRGG 93.7 Greencastle. Each week, she interviews two local nonprofit organizations discussing their accomplishments in the community.“We are excited to have a director of development on our staff. Cheryl has a great reputation for fundraising. We look forward to her increasing our donor base through the creation of new funds, which ultimately generates more grants and scholarships to benefit Washington County residents,” said Executive Director of the Community Foundation Brad Sell.
