Hagerstown Aviation Museum Creates Agency Fund

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum set up an agency fund at the Community Foundation of Washington County MD, Inc. using a gift from a long-time donor and supporter. This new fund will provide unrestricted financial support for current initiatives of the museum.HAM AircraftThe mission of the Hagerstown Aviation Museum is to preserve the history of Hagerstown, Maryland's aviation industry, spanning more than 100 years of designing, building and flying aircraft that have played significant roles in world events. The museum owns 23 historic aircraft, 16 of which were built in Hagerstown. From May-October, the museum holds special events at the Hagerstown Regional Airport for the public to see its planes or take a ride in the Fairchild PT-19.“We appreciate the generosity of the donor for contributing to the museum through their estate,” said John Seburn, Hagerstown Aviation Museum President. “It puts us that much closer to our ultimate goal of having a permanent home for the museum that’s open to the public.” John continued, “We are grateful to the Community Foundation for the opportunity to create this fund where the money is available if we need it,” he continued. “It’s a great benefit to how we operate. I encourage other nonprofits like us to set up a fund the same way as it will help sustain their organization for years to come.”Donations may be made to the Hagerstown Aviation Museum Fund at the Community Foundation by sending a check to 37 S. Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or by credit card on the Foundation’s website at www.cfwcmd.org.
