Scholarship Created to Help Women Further their Education

Sue Graff recently created the Patterson Graff Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Washington County MD to support female traditional or nontraditional students in furthering their education to reach their goals.Sue is a nurse at Brook Lane in charge of staff development and has taught at several local nursing programs. She has served as a member of the international organization Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.) for more than a decade. Their mission is to help women reach their goals of attaining an education through grants, loans and scholarships.Sue Graff pic-cropped“My parents, Ray and Norma Patterson, believed in the importance of education,” said Sue. “They also taught us that doing for others was one of the most important things you can do.” Sue continued, “Starting this scholarship fund at the Community Foundation in memory of them and in honor of my daughter, Meagan, who is an educator, brings me an overwhelming sense of joy and hope.
