St. John’s Shelter for Homeless Families Fund Created at Community Foundation

St. John’s Shelter for Homeless Families’ board of directors recently created an agency fund to provide unrestricted financial support to the nonprofit. St. John's Shelter started 31 years ago as Washington County's first shelter dedicated to keeping homeless families intact. They provide temporary housing to the families they serve, helping them transition into permanent housing. With six apartments on Randolph Street, St. John's Shelter provides 4,300 bed nights a year.pic st john's shelter“It takes many hands and hearts to operate St. John’s Shelter. Over the past three years, we’ve provided 12,748 bed nights for families who would’ve been hard pressed to have a roof over their heads otherwise,” said Becca Burford, president of St. John’s Shelter board of directors.Donations can be made to the Community Foundation to support St. John’s Shelter for Homeless Families at 37 S. Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or on the Foundation’s website at www.cfwcmd.org.
