Washington County Family Center Fund Created to Honor David Engle

FrienDave Engleds and colleagues of David Engle recently created the David A. Engle Fund for Washington County Family Center at the Foundation to honor Mr. Engle’s many years of dedicated service to Washington County. The Washington County Family Center provides education, employment and family self-sufficiency for young parents and their children birth to age four. Mr. Engle has cited the Family Center as one of the most successful interventions to break the cycle of poverty for young parents.

Mr. Engle grew up in Ohio and attended DePauw University in Indiana. He first moved to Baltimore before coming to Hagerstown. Mr. Engle has acted as director of the Washington County Department of Social Services for the past 27 years and will retire at the end of December. He was instrumental in a number of programs in the community that benefitted both children and families, such as Safe Place Child Advocacy Center and Washington County Family Center.

If you would like to honor Mr. Engle’s service to the local community by contributing to this fund, please send your donation to the Community Foundation at 33 W. Franklin St. Suite 203, Hagerstown MD 21740 or through the Foundation’s website at Donate Now.
