Washington County Gives Brings $555,958 to Community Nonprofits

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD, Inc. announced that Washington County Gives, the 24-hour online giving day, raised $555,958 in donations, matching funds and prizes. The event saw 2,021 unique donors giving to one or more of the 85 participating nonprofit organizations.Cedar Ridge Children’s Home & School, Inc raised the most dollars and were followed by the Maryland Theatre Association, Inc. in second place and Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in third. Finishing these twenty-four hours of online by placing in the top ten were Heritage Academy, Brooke’s House, Girls Inc. of Washington County, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Humane Society of Washington County, St. James School, and Washington County Community Action Council, Inc. It presents annual opportunities for Washington County nonprofits to raise unrestricted dollars for their organization. Designed to be an exciting and unifying community effort, Washington County Gives also presents the chance for nonprofits to discover and engage new donors by sharing their mission. $55,865 of this year’s overall amount consists of matching dollars and prizes distributed to participants.“It’s become a rewarding experience for Washington County and in a year when a lot of things felt uncertain, due to the pandemic, we couldn’t be more proud of our community’s nonprofits for persevering and collectively bringing in over a half a million dollars.
