Women’s Club Foundation Presents Scholarship to Macayla Wiles

The Women’s Club recently awarded $500 to Macayla Wiles with the Women’s Club Foundation Scholarship, a fund of the Community Foundation. Five years ago, the Women’s Club Foundation created this yearly scholarship to provide financial assistance to women in the Washington County community pursuing career advancement and/or post-secondary education after experiencing a life-changing event.Sondra Crumbacker-Macayla WilesWiles attends Frostburg State University at USMH, pursuing her bachelor’s degree in early childhood/elementary education. She is currently a student teacher at Lincolnshire Elementary School and hopes to continue teaching in Washington County upon graduating next May. Wiles works three jobs and participates in numerous activities, including Future Educators Association, Frostburg State Education Association and Avid Training through Washington County Public Schools. She also volunteers with AmeriCorps as well as Martin Luther King Head Start, E. Russell Hicks Middle School and other schools in the county. Per Miss Wiles, “Even though I have accomplished many great things in my life, I believe that we are all here on this earth to fulfill a purpose, something that makes us want to get out of bed in the morning and live our lives to the fullest. For me that something is teaching, and I cannot wait for my journey to begin.”
