Zane Schreiber Honored with People's Choice Rising Star Award

IMG_3564 The Community Foundation of Washington County MD, Inc. has awarded Zane Schreiber, as a part of the 22nd Annual People’s Choice Awards, with a Rising Star Award.This award honors an individual from the community who demonstrates a commitment to volunteer service. In their honor, a $1,000 contribution from the Community Foundation is made to the charity or charities of this recipient’s choice.Schreiber, 25, is a fervent volunteer for organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, United Way of Washington County, and is active within Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary, coaches for Federal Little League, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.“Zane is an amazing young man who clearly has a heart for our community. He has readily volunteered in many capacities to make a difference in our community and always brings a positive spirit to everything he does,” said Tom Kline .“At the end of the day, volunteerism is huge and one of the things I’m always trying to initiate people to get out and get involved. It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day, but big picture-wise, what are you giving back to the community?” says Schreiber.Zane, who is an active “big brother” with Big Brothers Big Sisters, stresses the importance of focusing passion on our community’s youth.Three organizations were chosen to receive an equal portion of the $1,000 awarded: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, United Way of Washington County, Maryland, and Federal Little League.
