Nick Adenhart Memorial Scholarship Presented by Carpet Gallery- This scholarship goes to a deserving student athlete playing baseball at a Washington County High School.
Mitchell Akers Leopard Spirit Memorial Scholarship Fund- Created to memorialize Mitchell’s irrepressible spirit and his zest for life, each year an award goes to a qualifying graduate of Smithsburg High School.
Aiden Matthew Alexander Scholarship Fund- Provides scholarships to Smithsburg High School graduating seniors who demonstrate characteristics of kindness and the importance of mental health awareness in the community.
Clayton Anders Student Athlete Scholarship- Provides scholarships to deserving students of Boonsboro High School who show leadership and dedication to their school and community.
Artist of Change Scholarship- Provides scholarships to deserving students whose art, charitable work, or intended career path promotes equity, diversity, inclusion, and/or justice for communities that have faced historical oppression.
George Ashbaugh III & Doris Ann Ashbaugh Boonsboro Athletic Scholarship- Provides scholarships to deserving students from Boonsboro High School who have participated in athletics and have financial needs.
The Phyllis Baker Fine Arts Memorial Scholarship Fund- This fund provides scholarships to deserving students graduating from Barbara Ingram School for the Arts who plan to further their education in art, painting or drawing.
Mildred R. Beckley South Hagerstown High School Educational Fund- An endowed field of interest fund in honor of Mildred R. Beckley established to provide financial support for current initiatives at South Hagerstown High School in the areas of student scholarships and educational programming. South Hagerstown High students should apply for this award through the SHHS Alumni Association.
BHS Class of 1970/Robert Lilga Scholarship Fund- Established by the Boonsboro High School Class of 1970 and in memory of Robert Lilga, this scholarship provides educational scholarships for Boonsboro High School graduates.
Boonsboro Athletics Boosters Scholarship Fund- This fund provides scholarships to deserving student athletes at Boonsboro High School.
Christi Bowers Scholarship Fund- The purpose of this fund is to honor the late Christi Bowers by providing scholarships to deserving students graduating from North Hagerstown High School or the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts pursuing an education in music, dance, and/or photography.
Monica L. Bowers Memorial Fund- Family and friends of Monica Bowers established this fund to provide financial support to students graduating from Clear Spring High School, preference may be given to students planning a career in social work or education.
Thomas J. Bowers Aviation Scholarship Fund- A scholarship fund created in honor of Thomas Bowers to provide scholarships to deserving Washington County students who are active members of the Civil Air Patrol and express a desire to pursue a degree in an aviation-related field.
Frank M. and Ruth N. Carpenter Family Scholarship Fund- Created by the Carpenter family to provide scholarships for deserving students graduating from Clear Spring High School who plan to study business, engineering or hard sciences, with preference given to students who are dependents of veterans of the US Armed Services. The recipient of this award is selected by the CSHS Awards Committee.
Clear Spring High School History Club Scholarship- Clear Spring High School’s Jonathan Nesbitt History Club presents a scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a post-secondary degree, with first preference given to a student majoring in education. The recipient of this award is selected by the CSHS Awards Committee.
Clear Spring High School Scholarship Fund- This fund provides scholarships to deserving students from Clear Spring High School. The recipient of this award is selected by the CSHS Awards Committee.
Brendon Colliflower Memorial Scholarship Fund- Established in memory of Brendon, this scholarship fund provides financial support to a graduating student athlete at Williamsport High School.
Melissa Collins Memorial Scholarship Fund- Created by the Forrest family to memorialize Melissa, this scholarship recognizes a student graduating from North Hagerstown High School that participated in music or drama programs offered at the school.
Christine Corbett Clear Spring High School Art Scholarship Fund- This scholarship awards students at Clear Spring High School who participated in art activities. The recipient of this award is selected by the CSHS Awards Committee.
Jim Deaner Scholarship Fund for Boys & Girls Club- Created to honor the retirement of Boys & Girls Club of Washington County long-time Director Jim Deaner, this scholarship will reward an active member or volunteers at any one of the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County sites. Preference will be given to the applicant with the strongest academic record.
Doleman Black Heritage Museum Robert Henry Kelsh Culinary and/or Piano Study Scholarship- This scholarship fund, established in memory of Robert Henry Kelsh, awards $500 annually to a student who resides in Washington County. This fund supports the Robert Henry Kelsh Scholarship, which offers financial aid to a minority student (with preference to African American students), from any Washington County Public or private High School, or a student currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college, whose intended career path is to pursue further education at a trade school, college, university, or other special-focused institution for Culinary Art, or for Specialized Instruction in Piano. This scholarship is a component of the Doleman Black Heritage Museum Agency Fund.
Doleman Black Heritage Museum Rev. James C. Ramsey Scholarship- This scholarship, a component of the Doleman Black Heritage Museum Agency Fund, assists a minority student needing assistance with Advanced Placement testing fees or Athletic physical examination fees.
Doleman Black Heritage Museum Dr. Patricia Wilson-Cone Scholarship- This scholarship, a component of the Doleman Black Heritage Museum Agency Fund, will be awarded to a minority student, preference given to African American students, that is pursuing a post-secondary education.
Peggy Donegan Scholarship Fund- Mrs. Donegan’s estate created this scholarship to benefit students at St. Maria Goretti.
Bill Dorsey Scholarship Fund for the Barbara Ingram School- Established in honor of 2008 PCA winner, Reverend Janice Dorsey, and named for her late husband, Bill, this fund supports scholarships for students at BISFA. The scholarship is designed for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors at BISFA to offset the cost of materials, supplies and other elements directly related to their arts discipline. Applications are available in the fall.
The Dave and Sue Dorsey Fund for HCC Athletics- Created by 2021 People’s Choice Award recipients, this fund provides scholarships to deserving students that attend Hagerstown Community College and are an active student-athlete.
Christine Ecker Memorial Scholarship Fund- Established in memory of Christine to support scholarships for cheerleaders at her alma mater, North Hagerstown High School.
Joseph M. Ellis Memorial Scholarship Fund- Established in memory of Joseph, this scholarship fund provides financial support to graduates of Boonsboro High School who demonstrate exemplary community service and can articulate how this service impacted their lives.
Equity in Education Scholarship- Established through a partnership between Rise Up Hagerstown, The Hagerstown Area Religious Council, and The Education Foundation of WCPS. The Foundation awards multiple scholarships annually ranging from $1,500 to $7,000 to racially minoritized students (with preference to African American students) who reside in Washington County, Maryland, and are pursuing a degree in education or a related field. Scholarships are eligible for renewal until degree is obtained.
Adna B. Fulton Family Scholarship Fund- Established by Mr. Fulton to provide scholarships to Washington County students pursuing a post-secondary education, with preference given to employees of AC&T and their children.
FOP Lodge #88 Criminal Justice Scholarship- Established by the FOP Thomas Pangborn Lodge #88, this scholarship shall provide scholarships to deserving students pursuing an education in criminal justice.
Future Is Yours – WV Child- The Future is Yours West Virginia Child Scholarship is open to graduating seniors from all 55 WV counties who have an ADHD diagnosis and who are or were in foster care, an adoptee, or a ward of the state and who wish to attend technical school or college after graduating from high school.
Jon Christopher Gauss, Jr. Auto Mechanics Scholarship- Jon’s parents established this scholarship in his memory to award a student pursuing auto mechanics in a post-secondary education, with preference given to a student planning to attend James Rumsey Technical Institute.
Jon Christopher Gauss, Jr. Wrestling Scholarship- This scholarship awards a member of a high school wrestling team pursuing a post-secondary education at an accredited trade school, college or university.
Michaela Jean Grove Scholarship Fund- Established in memory of Michaela, this scholarship provides educational support to graduating seniors at Boonsboro High School.
Hagerstown Community College Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Fund- A fund of the Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Challenge for HCC’s unrestricted scholarships and a Teaching and Learning Excellence Fund.
Hagerstown Garden Club Scholarship – This scholarship was created to memorialize the Hagerstown Garden Club. The applicant must be a Washington County resident that is a graduating high school senior, has been accepted into an accredited college, and is planning to major in a horticultural field, OR is a Washington County resident that is a current student at an accredited college, is majoring in a horticultural field, and has a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Wyatt Haggerty Memorial Scholarship Fund- Established in memory of Wyatt, this scholarship will award an engineering student at Frostburg State University enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Collaborative Program.
Boomer Harsh Memorial Scholarship- This fund aims to provide scholarships to Washington County students graduating from public school with preference given to Williamsport High School graduates. Ideal recipients should participate in school golf and/or tennis teams and be pursuing post-secondary education in veterinary medicine/science, hoping to become a vet tech or work in an animal-studies related program.
Charas Heurich Memorial Scholarship Fund- Created in memory of Charas to support deserving students at Smithsburg High School pursuing further education at a college, university, art, music, photography or other special-focused institution. This fund also received support from gifts in memory of Charas’ grandmother, Dolores Weibel, and father, Christian Heurich, III.
Hood College Waltersdorf-Henson Scholarship Endowment Fund- A fund of the Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Challenge for scholarships to benefit qualified students who attend Hood College from the Community Foundation’s service area, with an emphasis on Washington County.
Quinn Alec Hoover Legacy Scholarship Fund- In honor of the legacy of Quinn Hoover, whose short life touched so many, this fund provides the following four yearly scholarships to graduating seniors. Please click on the link below to apply for that particular scholarship.

Hub City Raven’s Roost #124 Inc. “4th and 29” Scholarship Fund- Named for a legendary Baltimore Ravens miracle play, this scholarship recognizes one student’s effort in any arena (personal, academic, music, sports, art, etc.) that has led to a brighter future.
Harry G. Jones Scholarship- Created by beloved, now-retired USPS mailman and friend to all Harry Jones, this scholarship will grow to benefit Washington County high school graduates pursuing further education.
Tyler “TJ” Josenhans Athletic Scholarship- This scholarship, created in honor of Tyler “TJ” Josenhans, is intended to help others achieve athletic and/or academic goals.
Jennifer Karn Memorial Scholarship- This scholarship was created in memorial of Jennifer Karn and will support local graduating high school students.
John & Tillie Kendle Scholarship- In memory of John & Tillie, this appointed scholarship will go to a graduate of Williamsport High School who played a sport in high school, plans to attend a 4-year institution and continue their athletic career in college.
Helen and Gene Kline Scholarship Fund- An endowed scholarship fund created by the Kline’s to benefit students enrolled at HCC, majoring in education or engineering.
Clayton Michael Knode Scholarship- Created in memory of Clayton Knode, this fund intendds to provide scholarships to graduating students.
Sherrill Koontz Memorial Scholarship Fund- Established in memory of Washington County teacher and activist, Sherry Koontz, to provide scholarships to young women graduating from South Hagerstown High School.
Paul Lawson Memorial Aviation Scholarship- This fund was created in the memory of Paul Lawson, to provide scholarships to deserving students from Maryland and West Virginia, between the ages of 15-25, pursuing aviation lessons.
Merrill and Vickie Martin Layton Scholarship- This fund provides scholarships to deserving students from South Hagerstown High School who are pursuing studies in journalism and/or the arts.
LeVan Healthcare Career Scholarship Fund- Created to award a Boonsboro High School student who plans to pursue a degree in a health-related field of study.
Dee Dee Lobley Memorial Fund- These scholarships will be awarded to recipients from North Hagerstown High School and or St. Maria Goretti. Recipients must be planning to pursue an education in a college, university or trade school.
Sue and Keith Lowery Scholar Athlete Scholarship- Established in honor of longtime Boonsboro High School athletic director Sue Lowery and her husband Keith. This scholarship will support scholar athletes graduating from Boonsboro High School.
Valentina Macarisin Memorial Scholarship- Created by Mary and Sarah Miller in memory of Valentina, this scholarship will benefit students graduating from Barbara Ingram School for the Arts studying visual arts with a talent for photography or vocal music.
C. MacLean Goodwill Opportunity Scholarship- Horizon Goodwill Industries established this scholarship in honor of long-time Executive Director Craig MacLean to provide financial support to employees / participants of Horizon Goodwill pursuing training, certification, or education from an accredited organization.
Magnolia Foundation Waltersdorf-Henson Scholarship Fund- A fund of the Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Challenge for the benefit of USMH to administer and provide scholarships for qualified students, with preference given to Washington County residents. Scholarship sub-funds include: 1) City of Hagerstown Scholarship 2) Board of County Commissioners Scholarship 3) Citi Scholarship 4) STEM Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics Scholarship 5) The Florence H. Graff Scholarship Award.
William “Bill” Maletzky Scholarship Fund- An endowed scholarship created by Mr. Maletzky and supported by gifts from his friends and family to fund scholarships for eligible graduating seniors at South Hagerstown High School.
Lawrence and Genevieve Martin Scholarship Fund- This scholarship honors Larry and Geney by assisting a young man or woman graduating from a Washington County, MD, public high school who plans to pursue a career in the building industry.
Barry W. McAllister Memorial Scholarship Fund- Created in memory of Barry W. McAllister to celebrate his lifelong love of farming and agriculture, this scholarship is available to participants in Washington County 4-H programs. Please see your 4-H advisor for more information.
The McClellan Boonsboro High School Scholar Athlete Award- This scholarship supports deserving students from Boonsboro High School who excel in both academics and athletics.
Mercersburg Academy Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Fund- A fund of the Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Challenge established to provide need-based financial aid to students at Mercersburg Academy who reside in the Foundation’s service area. This fund includes scholarships named for Paul C. Mellott, Sr. and Amy L. and Robert M. Kerstein.
Meritus Healthcare Foundation Scholarship Fund- This fund provides scholarships to deserving students from any Washington County public or private high school accepted into a designated health care program.
Dr. Elizabeth Molina Morgan 2010 National Superintendent of the Year Scholarship Fund- A scholarship fund created in honor of Dr. Elizabeth Molina Morgan, former superintendent of Washington County Public Schools, for her 2010 distinction of the National Superintendent of the Year. This yearly scholarship awards a female graduate of WCPS who demonstrates high academic promise and a financial need.
Miss Washington County/Miss Western Maryland Pageant Fund- This scholarship supports educational scholarships for pageant participants.
Ryan Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund- Created in memory of Ryan to support scholarships for graduating seniors from public, private or accredited home school programs in Washington County. Students may be pursuing a college education, trade school, or apprenticeship. Ideal recipients should embrace the same positive attitude of Ryan’s – who hoped to someday work with his father LeRoy Myers and take over the family business.
Officer Christopher Nicholson Memorial Scholarship Fund- In memory of Local Law Enforcement Officer Christopher Nicholson who lost his life in the line of duty, this yearly scholarship awards a student at both Williamsport and Smithsburg High Schools planning a career in law enforcement.
North Hagerstown High School Class of ’67 Scholarship Fund- Created by the Class of 1967 to provide scholarships to deserving students from North Hagerstown High School.
Wesley Dylan Oakes Memorial Scholarship Fund- Created in memory of Wesley, this scholarship will award a graduating senior from Williamsport High School involved in humanitarian work inside and outside of school who plans to pursue a career in one of the following areas or a related discipline: landscape architecture, forestry, wildlife management or behavioral health.
Patterson Graff Educational Fund- This scholarship fund will support females in furthering their education, in any field, to reach their educational goals.
Walter W. Peterman Clear Spring High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund –The Clear Spring High School Alumni Association established this fund to recognize and provide scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing a post-secondary education. Two awards are made each year to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership skills as well as excellence in science and in music. The recipient of this award is selected by the CSHS Awards Committee.
Dan Pheil Scholarship Fund- Created in honor of Dan Pheil, this scholarship awards a deserving graduating high school senior residing in Washington County who plans to major in business.
Evelyn Manning Potter and Vivian Grove Strunk Scholarship Fund- Created by the International Association for Administrative Professionals to provide financial support to qualifying students pursuing a career in the administrative professional arena.
Evan Price Music Scholarship- To honor the legacy of music educator Evan Price, this scholarship makes awards to deserving orchestra students from Smithsburg High School.
Remsberg-Trout Scholarship Fund- One scholarship will support a graduating senior at Williamsport High School pursuing a post-secondary degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Two more scholarships will support graduating seniors from any Washington County public high school who also plan a career in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). All applicants must belong to the National Honor Society.
Resonance Fund Scholarship- This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from North Hagerstown High School. Recipients must be planning to pursue an education in chemistry or biochemistry.
Karen C. and A. Wells Ridenour Nursing Scholarship Fund- This scholarship supports a Washington County resident of any age, race or gender that’s accepted to an accredited four-year nursing program with the intention of completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Jack Roberts Scholarship Fund- Dedicated to the memory of Jack, a kind, considerate young man who was a loyal friend, family member, teammate and Eagle Scout with a genuine curiosity and passion for learning, this scholarship will go to a graduating senior at Smithsburg High School that participated in cross country, indoor track and/or outdoor track.
Odell Rosen Scholarship- This scholarship will go to a qualifying student at Hancock High School.
Rotary Club of Hagerstown Sunrise Foundation Scholarship Fund- The Sunrise Rotary Club of Hagerstown created this fund to benefit a Washington County student demonstrating a strong commitment to community service, leadership and extracurricular activities with plans to pursue a post-secondary education.
Saint James School Scholarship Fund- Established to provide funds to Saint James School for scholarships to worthy students within the greater Washington County area.
Saint James School Waltersdorf-Henson Scholarship Endowment Fund- A restricted fund of the Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Challenge to support scholarships for students of Saint James School from the Community Foundation’s service area, with an emphasis on Washington County. The James and Joan Snyder Family Endowment is a sub-fund.
South Hagerstown High School Class of 1968- Created by the SHHS Class of 1968, this scholarship will support deserving graduating seniors from South Hagerstown High School.
St. Maria Goretti Waltersdorf-Henson Scholarship Endowment Fund- A restricted fund of the Waltersdorf-Henson Endowment Challenge for scholarship support to students at St. Maria Goretti High School from the Community Foundation’s service area, with an emphasis on Washington County.
Mildred A Schmid 4-H Scholarship Fund- Created by the Mildred A. Schmid 4-H Scholarship Trust to provide scholarships to deserving students from the Washington County area who plan to pursue a post-secondary education, with preference given to graduating high school seniors involved with Washington County 4-H dog programs.
Dwight Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund- In memory of longtime coach and friend of Warrior athletics, Dwight Scott, this scholarship benefits graduating senior athletes at Boonsboro High School.
Jeff Scuffins Memorial Scholarship- A champion by many definitions, Jeff Scuffins unexpectedly passed away Saturday, March 20th. To honor his legacy, loved ones quickly established a scholarship fund with the Community Foundation of Washington County Md, Inc., for Jeff, ensuring that students pursuing a postsecondary education.
Greg Shank Memorial Scholarship- In memory of Greg Shank, this fund will award scholarships to Washington County high school students with plans for post-secondary education while competing collegiately in cross country or track & field.
Dick Sheridan Basketball Scholarship Fund- This scholarship awards a student graduating from Broadfording Christian Academy, pursuing a post-secondary education at an accredited institution. Applicants must demonstrate hard work and dedication on the basketball court, in the classroom and in their Christian faith. “All heart, all hustle, all the time.”
George A. Sites Clear Spring High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund- Named after the very first principal at the school, the Clear Spring High School Alumni Association established this fund to recognize and provide scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing a post-secondary education. Recipients will demonstrate outstanding leadership and academic standing. The recipient of this award is selected by the CSHS Awards Committee.
Jodi L. Smith Readers to Leaders Scholarship- Provides funding to deserving Washington County Public Schools students who are aspiring reading or English teachers.
Bradley L. Smith Memorial Rebel Band Scholarship –Appointed scholarship was established to provide support for a graduate of South High who participated in the Rebel Band.
Chris W. Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund- This scholarship fund honors Chris’ dedication to Learning Support Students by providing financial assistance to a graduating senior from a Learning Support Program of WCPS planning to pursue a post-secondary education.
Nora & Theodore Snyder History Award Scholarship Fund
This Clear Spring High School scholarship will reward deserving students who participated in history classes and activities. The recipient of this award is selected by the CSHS Awards Committee.
South County Scholarship- This scholarship awards deserving students graduating from Boonsboro High School.
Jeff Spielman Scholarship Fund- Created in memory of the late Jeff Spielman, a beloved educator, coach, official, and friend to all, this fund serves to provide scholarships to deserving Washington County High School graduates.
Ralph “Coach” Stottlemyer, Sr. Scholarship Fund- Created in honor of 2002 People’s Choice Award winner, Ralph Stottlemyer, Jr. to make scholarship awards in memory of his father, Ralph Stottlemyer, Sr.
Robert and Betty Swain Scholarship Fund – Created by the estate of Charles Robert Swain to provide scholarships to deserving students from Boonsboro High School who are pursuing post-secondary education in a trades related field.
The Artist’s Palette Scholarship Fund – This fund will provide scholarships to deserving students continuing their education and career goals in the fields of cosmetology, aesthetician, and/or massage therapy.
Von Alt Youth Leadership Scholarship Fund- In memory of Robert J. Von Alt Jr. and William J. Von Alt, two scholarships will go to deserving youth members of the Mason-Dixon Council, BSA for leadership training.
Warehouse Cinemas Scholarship- This scholarship is intended for any Warehouse Cinemas employee, who is currently employed and has been for at least six (6) months. The employee will be attending an accredited college, university, or trade school in the current calendar year.
Washington 4-H Dairy Scholarship- Established to support post-secondary scholarships to participants in Washington County 4-H Dairy programs.
Washington County 4-H LiveStock / Market Sale Scholarship- Established to support post-secondary scholarships to participants in Washington County 4-H Livestock and Market Steer programs.
Washington County Bar Association Fund- This field of interest fund, currently operating as a scholarship, will make up to two annual awards to qualifying high school, home school, private school, parochial school, college or technical school students that plan to pursue or are pursuing a legal or paralegal certificate or degree. Applicants must demonstrate a high level of academic success and a commitment to community service. Graduate students may apply.
Washington County Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship- This fund serves to provide scholarships to deserving students who are continuing their education in Nursing. Founded by alumni of Washington County Hospital’s School of Nursing.
Washington Goes Purple Scholarship- This scholarship will go to 10 Washington County Public High School seniors. One scholarship will also be awarded to a non-traditional student, but does not have to be a graduating high school senior.
Robert J. Wells Memorial Scholarship- Created to memorialize Rob, this appointed scholarship goes to a senior wrestler at North Hagerstown High School who excels in academics and leadership and has left a lasting impression on the wrestling program at the school.
Craig Bryan Wibberley Memorial Scholarship Fund- Created to honor USS Cole Seaman Apprentice Craig Bryan Wibberley, this appointed scholarship goes to students at Washington County Technical High School pursuing a computer-related field of study in college.
Women’s Club Foundation Scholarship Fund- This scholarship is awarded to non-traditional women of Washington County who demonstrate financial need but are committed to pursuing post-secondary education or career training. Successful candidates will demonstrate resiliency and courage in overcoming a life-altering challenge. They will have graduated high school, have a GED, or as non-traditionals plan to attain a GED.
Michael S. and Marlene B. Young Scholars Fund- Mike and Marlene Young established this scholarship fund to provide financial assistance to graduates of Smithsburg High School who have maintained honor roll status for the majority of their high school career and plan to pursue a course of study in business, music or education.
Karim Thomas Ziyad Memorial Engineering Scholarship Fund- This scholarship benefits a deserving student from Washington County or the surrounding area that plans to pursue a career in engineering, with a preference given to the field of mechanical engineering.
